Charlie Mounts is a Master’s candidate in International Relations at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, specializing in geopolitical risk analysis and U.S. strategy. His work connects politics, economics, security, history, and emerging technologies to analyze risks and opportunities in a rapidly changing world.
Before graduate school, Charlie spent four years as a consultant at Tripepi Smith & Associates, advising elected officials, law partners, and executives across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. He led the firm’s artificial intelligence task force, managed a portfolio of eight clients, and delivered policy analysis, strategic communications, and technology solutions to help clients achieve their goals.
Charlie previously worked at the American Enterprise Institute, synthesizing research on international economics and foreign policy. In New York, he worked at Algomi (acquired by BGC Group), collaborating with institutional investors, engineers, and product teams to build liquidity aggregation tools and market surveillance software for bond traders.
He holds a B.A. in Government (cum laude) with departmental honors from Claremont McKenna College. His senior thesis on U.S. and Canadian COVID-19 policy responses received the Philip Roland Prize for Best Senior Thesis in Public Policy. He also completed Dartmouth’s Tuck Bridge Program, taking MBA-level courses in corporate finance, managerial economics, strategy, and spreadsheet modeling, with experience creating DCF valuation models and market projections.
A dual U.S.–U.K. citizen, Charlie has lived in London, California, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C., has traveled to 40+ countries, and speaks intermediate Spanish. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys chess, surfing, and soccer.
